1. Adamas

Adamas is one of the best places to stay in Milos – especially for first-timers.

This is where the port is located, so most probably it will be the first entry point for travelers coming onto the island.

Not only are there plenty of things to do in Adamas, but this village is also the transport hub of Milos. You’ll find plenty of public bus routes that start from here and will head all around the island.

However, if you don’t want to rely on public transport, then you’ll also find lots of car and ATV rentals in Adamas.

Another bonus of staying in this area of Milos? The accommodation is pretty inexpensive compared to other villages on the island and you’ll find some great bargains here.

With great food, lots of bus routes, and budget-friendly hotels, Adamas is without a doubt one of the best areas to stay in Milos.

There is also a bus stop just 180 meters (200 yards) away which makes getting around the island super easy. All rooms at this hotel come with a private balcony or patio that offers views of the garden area or the Aegean Sea.

3. Plaka

Plaka is another great option when it comes to deciding where to stay in Milos. The town is perched high upon a hill and boasts panoramic views of Milos and the Aegean Sea.

It’s the capital of the island, so naturally, you’ll find plenty to do here. Some of the top sites include the catacombs, the Ancient Theater, Plaka Castle, and the Archaeological Museum of Milos.

You’ll also get to wander through Plaka’s quaint cobbled streets without worry, as no cars are allowed within the town center.

Not only is there lots to see, but this town is also home to plenty of authentic places to eat.

With so many historic attractions, scenic views, and plenty of tavernas and restaurants, Plaka is one of the best places to stay in Milos.

However, it’s important to note that there aren’t many accommodation options in Plaka so you’ll have to book well in advance.

Sunset Nest is located just 1.4 km (0.9 miles) from Plathiena Beach and is an air-conditioned apartment that sleeps up to three people. It has plenty of facilities, but the highlight has to be the private terrace area. From up here, you’ll get breathtaking sea views, and will have plenty of room to sunbathe.

Viva Vivere Houses is just a 10-minute walk from Plaka town center and only a 16-minute walk from the beach. They offer a variety of accommodation options including studios and apartments, and many of them have a private sea-view balcony. Guests can also enjoy breakfast at this accommodation too.

BUDGET – Plaka Suites

Plaka Suites is a great budget option if you’re wondering where to stay on Milos Island. It’s also in the perfect location – less than 1 km (0.6 miles) away from the catacombs, and just 1.6 km (1 mile) from Plathiena Beach. The rooms here are beautiful, and very budget-friendly. Many of them even have a terrace with sea views!

4. Tripiti

Tripiti, Milos

Tripiti is just a 15-minute walk from Plaka and has plenty to offer. As it’s so close to Milos’s capital, you’ll have easy access to the nearby attractions. In fact, the Ancient Theater and Catacombs are actually closer to Tripiti than Plaka.

This hilltop village not only has plenty of places to visit nearby, but it also offers breathtaking views of Milos and the Aegean Sea.

Although it’s only small, you’ll find lots of great restaurants and tavernas nearby including Barriello, Glaronisia, and Restaurant OKTO.

Aside from its beauty, Tripit is most famous for its iconic white windmills that sit right at the top of the village. They’ve been around since the 18th century, and some of them have even been converted into holiday accommodation.

If you’re wondering about where to stay in Milos, then Tripiti is another great choice. However, just be aware that accommodation choices are very limited.

The suites here are simply beautiful, with many of them offering superb views of the Aegean Sea. There is even a hot tub on-site for guests to use.

MID-RANGE – Chaido Studios

Chaido Studios is a beautiful property that has a garden area and terrace that offers panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. The apartments available here are stunning, with lots of space, and a balcony area where you can relax and take in the views. You’ll also find plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

Georgia Rooms Milos is another great property that offers stunning views of Milos and the coastline. Every room at this hotel comes with a private balcony or patio with sea views and air conditioning. There is also a bus stop just steps away from the hotel that goes to all the nearby beaches.

5. Triovasalos

Triovasalos is one of the lesser-known areas when people are deciding on where to stay in Milos. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a more local and authentic stay, and is situated just 2 km from Plaka.

The area of Triovasalos is made up of two villages; Triovasalos and Pera Triovasalos.

Between both of them, you’ll find plenty of restaurants, tavernas, and shops. The accommodation here is also very reasonable as it’s not a touristy area.

However, choices are very limited so if you want to stay here – make sure you book well in advance!

If you’re looking for an authentic experience but want to be close to Plaka and other areas, then Triovasalos is a great option.

Although you won’t see any major attractions in this part of Milos, Plaka is within walking distance so you can easily visit the archaeological museum, and Plaka Castle.

You can also head to Tourkothalassa beach which is just a 30-minute walk away, or a 5-minute car journey.

There is one site you’ll want to see during your stay here though, and that’s the Church of Agios Spyridon. It’s the cultural center of Triovasalos and is very beautiful.

6. Sarakiniko

Sarakiniko Beach, Milos

Sarakiniko is not really a town, but rather the area closest to the iconic Sarakiniko Beach.

Sarakiniko Beach is the island’s most famous and arguably the most beautiful beach. It attracts thousands of tourists every year and is one of the most photographed locations in Greece. Once you get here, you’ll understand why!

This stunning beach is home to azure-colored waters, pristine sands, and unique rock formations so honestly has it all. Trust me – it will take your breath away!

The landscape here is so dramatic because it’s been shaped by volcanic activity, but that’s not all.

With huge hollows, unique geological formations, and endless white rock, walking along this beach will make you feel like you’ve stepped on the moon.

Sarakiniko Beach gets incredibly busy throughout the afternoon. However, if you’re close by you can enjoy it in peace before the crowds descend.

If you want to stay in this area but are looking to save some cash, then Sarakiniko Rooms are the best budget option by far! The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from this area’s iconic beach and only 1.7 km (1.1 miles) from Papikinou Beach. Moreover, all of the rooms offer sea and mountain views.

7. Paleochori

Paleochori Beach, Milos

Paleochori is another iconic destination and is mostly known for its beautiful beach. It’s one of the island’s most colorful beaches and is the perfect spot to relax and sunbathe.

Instead of white sands, you’ll find colorful pebbles mixed in which give it a unique shade. The beach is also surrounded by vivid red rock cliffs and is quite a sight.

Not only is the beach beautiful, but you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at plenty of watersports and dine in some of the waterfront tavernas.

One of the most famous places to eat in Paleochori is Sirocco (also known as the Volcanic all-day restaurant). The restaurant is set right on the beach and is well-known for its traditional Greek dishes, fresh seafood, and unique cooking methods.

Many of the dishes are cooked under the sand by using the area’s geothermal energy, and taste delicious!

With such a beautiful beach, a variety of watersports available, and plenty of places to eat, Paleochori has to be one of the best areas to stay in Milos.

Mar-Nik Village is a great budget option, as the rooms are super cheap. The property is just a 3-minute walk from the beach and there is a garden area on-site with complimentary parking. All rooms at the hotel also come with a private bathroom, a fridge, and a terrace with sea views.

8. Firopotamos

Firopotamos, Milos

Firopotomas is a charming little fishing village that’s known for its quaint boathouses, crystal clear waters, and golden sands.

Other than appreciating the beauty of this area, you won’t find much to do here. You can visit the Church of Agios Nikolaos, try some water sports, or wander around the village.

However, the highlight has to be Firopotamos Beach! Although only small, this beach is stunning and is the perfect place to relax and spend a couple of hours sunbathing. Not only that, but its backdrop is pretty astonishing with towering cliffs and crystal clear waters.

If you’re looking for luxury stays right on the beach, then Firopotomas is one of the best places to stay in Milos.

You can actually stay in several of the old boathouses, but prices don’t come cheap. So, if you’re planning to visit Milos on a budget then this isn’t the place you want to stay!

Blue Mare Apartments is also located right on the beach, and you’ll be staying in an old converted fishing house which is pretty cool. This property also offers water sports facilities, a laundry service, and business facilities. You won’t find a place to stay much more beautiful than this!

BUDGET – Miramare Luxury Apartments

Firopotamos isn’t the place for budget stays, so this is one of the cheapest options you’ll find. However, the family rooms do sleep four people so you can easily split the cost. This accommodation is situated right on the beachfront, and you’ll have a private terrace area where you can relax and enjoy the views.

9. Mandrakia

Mandrakia, Milos

Mandrakia is another beautiful fishing village and has to be one of the most idyllic places in Milos.

Colorful fishing houses line the bay, making this place incredible photogenic so you’ll need your camera for this one!

Aside from the fishing houses and the beautiful lagoon, there isn’t much else to do here. However, the popular beaches of Sarakiniko and Firopotamos are both close by, making this place an excellent base for exploring the area.

You won’t find many dining options here either, but you can head to Medusa for lunch. This beautiful restaurant overlooks the Aegean Sea, so you can listen to the waves while tasting delicious Mediterranean food.

Although Mandrakia doesn’t have the same amenities as other places on the island, it’s one of the best locations to stay in Milos if you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet.

This sleepy fishing village is also full of character, and although there’s no beach – the beauty of this area is spectacular.
