ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta is WalletHub’s No. 1 budget-friendly travel destination in the United States, according to a ranking that compared 100 major metro areas on travel and visitor-friendly factors. Orlando finished second, with Austin, Texas, in third place.

The list weighs 41 indicators, including flight costs, local prices, attractions, pools, weather, safety and even beer gardens per capita.

Washington, D.C., Honolulu and Philadelphia round out the top 10

WalletHub’s top 10 also includes Washington, D.C., Honolulu, Tampa, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Cincinnati and Richmond, Virginia.

The ranking is meant to help travelers find destinations that offer more value without giving up too many activity or comfort options.

Ventura County is named the least affordable destination on the list

At the other end of the ranking, Ventura County, California, was listed as the worst budget-friendly destination. The area sits just north of Los Angeles and includes Thousand Oaks.

The source also noted that Britney Spears has a 20-acre estate in Thousand Oaks.

Tucson places 30th while no other Arizona city appears in the ranking

Tucson ranked No. 30 overall, making it Arizona’s lone city on the list. WalletHub’s full results can be sorted by category on its website.

Other low-ranked destinations included Hidalgo County, in southern Texas, Lansing, Michigan, Norwalk, Connecticut and San Jose, California.
