Police say the two men knew each other and a verbal exchange escalated into a fight late Wednesday night.,

DULUTH, MN — Police in Duluth say a 26-year-old man was hospitalized after a stabbing late Wednesday night near the McDonald’s at 428 North Central Avenue. Officers responded just after 9 p.m. to reports of the attack and later arrested another 26-year-old man on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Authorities said the injured man’s wounds are believed to be non-life-threatening. The case remains under investigation.

How the fight started

According to police, the two men knew each other before the confrontation. Investigators said a verbal exchange between them turned into a physical fight.

The fight ended with one person suffering multiple stab wounds. Police did not release additional details about what led up to the dispute.

Officers and witnesses

Duluth police were joined at the scene by St. Louis County Sheriff’s deputies and Minnesota State Patrol troopers. Officers spoke with several witnesses while they worked to sort out what happened.
