The SkyPoint Observation Deck is located on Level 77 of the Q1 Building in Surfers Paradise and is one of the world’s tallest residential towers! SkyPoint has one of the World’s fastest elevators taking you from ground to Level 77 in 42.7 seconds. Monkey and Boogs thought it was pretty cool and I was relieved there wasn’t a ‘take the stairs’ option at 1331 steps!
Standing at 322.5 metres, the Q1 Building is taller than the Chrysler building in New York City and is Australia’s only beachside Observation Deck! Our reaction when we first saw the view was to gasp! It’s jaw dropping! It is a breath-taking sight and well worth taking a look. It is really easy to see why SkyPoint is one of the Gold Coast’s most popular attractions and has become a must see destination for locals and visitors alike.
Once we had taken in the views we ordered the ‘sky’ tea from Seventy7 Café + Bar. Whilst the decision to order a wine or a coffee was the hardest decision I had to make that day I went with the coffee! I wasn’t disappointed. As a Gold Coast local there really isn’t any other café that offers a view that good. We have already planned to head back for the buffet breakfast soon.
We took Dad to skyPoint for his birthday so it was lovely to create some special memories to take home with us!
Boogs is definitely the animal spotter of the family! He was the first to spot an alligator in Florida, a croc in the Daintree river and a whale from the Q1 observation deck. We live on the Gold Coast and have spotted many whales but that still didn’t stop us from squealing with excitement when we spied this whale frolicking just off the shore. (Yes we are ‘that’ family). Whale migration in Australia begins late May and runs through till the month of November so if you are visiting SkyPoint at that time keep your eyes peeled because chances are you will spot whale groups like humpback’s and orca’s migrate from the cold waters of the Antarctic up to the more temperate waters of Australia!
On our way out we stocked up on some souvenirs!

An adult ticket will set you back $24 and a child $14 however it is well worth the hours of fun. We’ve only ever been during the day but I imagine the night view would be equally spectacular.
